Five years ago today (April 23), Darrell and I went on our first date – a bike ride through the tulip fields of Skagit County, Washington. Today was a beautiful day in Switzerland, so we decided to do another bike ride. Since Darrell stays closer to home than I do during the week, he knows our immediate surroundings much better than I do – and he wanted to take me to some of his favorite spots. We went and bought eggs from the local farmer, apple muss from the local orchard, then went to a local castle (about 12 km from our house). We had Fiona, so couldn’t enter as paying customers, but will go back. He showed me nice places to run and a little tulip patch he had found. We snacked on still warm bread, cheese, and apple muss with a view of yellow and green farm fields surrounded by low lying hills. A nice surprise for both of us was a wine tasting room that is only open one weekend a month and this happened to be that weekend. We spent about an hour with the vintners, trying their wines and chatting with them – really nice people and great wine. Thanks Darrell!
XO. RMS
